I just happened upon this blog on FB and was crying just by reading the first paragraph. Ashley, is a very special person and is showing unparalleled compassion and kindness. If only everyone had a heart like hers this world would be so different both for people and animals.

Can I convince you?
My goal is to reach as many people as I can and encourage them to change their attitudes on how they choose to bring a new puppy or dog in their lives. There are still millions of people purchasing from Pet Shops. Almost everyone of these puppies come from Mills. Why would anyone choose a puppy Online and have it shipped without ever actually seeing it. There are lots of people who do. These people will tell you they use USDA breeders. USDA actually does not mean a thing. There are not very many inspectors and there are thousands and thousands of these mills. Some small others large. They do not do a good job of inspecting these facilities. It has been proven and besides there are just too many Puppy Mills and very few inspectors. Laws are almost impossible to pass because people do not want to have to eat into their profits by providing veterinary care, proper nutrition, adequate housing. They fight very hard and have strong backing from the people who make lots of money. Bringing a single litter of puppies into this world properly and responsibility means spending money and they won't to do it as cheaply as possible. Please, pledge to not purchase from these places. Shelters & rescue groups have millions of wonderful dogs and cats whose life is depending on your decisions. You might think that it's only one puppy or kitten, it can't hurt with millions of other thinking the same, the cycle of breeding dog abuse will continue to flourish. Your decisions can save an animals life.

3/9/11: Breaking: Bill Is Fast-Tracked To Gut Puppy Mill Anti-Cruelty Law
3/9/11: Breaking: Bill Is Fast-Tracked To Gut Puppy Mill Anti-Cruelty Law
This shows you how hard people will fight to be able to continue to treat dogs
inhumanely. They don't want to spend a dime on providing breeding dogs with
the very basic of care. This is very disheartening.

Dog Walking at Shelter
Today was a hard day at the shelter. Several dogs I had walked were adopted but returned. Many of the dogs seemed anxious and I wonder how will they find a truly loving home. They are the unwanted dogs without much hope. They have a crematoriam and for the first time it was running and it smelled bad. I had to try hard not to think about it. I seem to work so hard and it does not seem to make a dent. So many dogs and cats continue to be killed.

Labrodoodles for 2,300.00 in Atlanta
I can't believe that I just saw On Facebook Labradoodle puppies for sale for $2,300.00. Why would anyone pay that amount of money for a mixed breed dog. They are great dogs but why would anyone want to give someone that amount of money for a mixed breed when there are thousands of mixed breed dogs in shelters and rescue groups. By choosing to Adopt a dog or cat you are saving a life. Which is priceless!
I can't believe that I just saw a FB page with people selling Labradoodle puppies for 2,300.00. I would love to see people adopt a dog from a resuce group or animal shelter instead of paying people that amount of money for a mixed breed dog. The shelters are full of mixed breed dogs and purebreds for much less money. And the best thing is you will save a dogs life. Which is priceless!

The Billion Dollar Pet Trade
There are thousands of people everyday who purchase puppies from Online Websites, Pet Shops, News paper Ads, Flea Markets and Backyard Breeders. I would like to say to these people. Visit a local animal shelter and look at all of those homeless faces. Dogs and cats that will not be alive for another day. I walk dogs every Tues at a local kill shelter and I have gotten to know these dogs and they are great dogs. We don't see them because they are out of sight but they are there and they are dying because of the choices that we make on how we obtain our pets. I am actually begging you to not support the billion dollar Pet Trade Industry.
